Dialogue session with the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Association in the Northern Zone

MIRI: Thursday – A dialogue session program with the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Association in the Northern Zone chaired by the Chairman of CVLB Sarawak, YB Dr. Ripin Lamat, was held at the Main Meeting Room Level 9, Miri Islamic Complex, this morning.

The objective of this dialogue session was to obtain views and feedback from representatives of associations related to commercial vehicle licensing; as a platform to share problems and issues faced by commercial vehicle licensing; as well as as a platform to foster cooperation and understanding between CVLB Sarawak and licensees.

It is hoped that the findings and feedback from this dialogue session will be used as a guide for the improvement of policies and regulations related to commercial vehicle licensing in Sarawak.

A total of 20 representatives were present representing various commercial vehicle licensing associations in the Northern Zone of Sarawak, including representatives of lorry, taxi, rental car and school bus associations. A similar dialogue session will also be held in Kuching on 26 November 2021 for commercial vehicle licensing associations in the Southern Zone.

ONE OFF GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DRIVERS

Throughout 2021, apart from the main function of issuing commercial vehicle licenses, CVLB Sarawak has also been entrusted to help the government distribute one off government assistance under the Malaysian Economic and People’s Protection Program (PERMAI) and People’s Economic Empowerment Strategic Program (PEMERKASA).

This program is implemented to help reduce the burden of the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country. Under this program, eligible recipients consisting of taxi drivers, rental cars, school buses, sightseeing buses and e-hailing will receive assistance of RM500.00 from the government on a one off basis.

In 2021, a total of 4140 people have benefited under the PERMAI initiative. Meanwhile, under the PEMERKASA initiative, a total of 4094 recipients have been eligible for assistance.

Also present at the program were Sarawak CVLB Director, Puan Masitah Annuar; Director of JPJ Sarawak, Tuan Norizan Jili; Sarawak Traffic Investigation & Enforcement Department Chief, Superintendant Alexson Naga anak Chabu; Deputy Director of CVLB Sarawak, Tuan Razami Mohamad Jamali and senior officers of CVLB Sarawak.
