Dialogue Session with the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Association in the Central Zone of Sarawak

SIBU: Thursday – Chairman of CVLB Sarawak, YB Dr. Ripin Lamat, once again spent time on the field to be with the licensees in the Central Zone of Sarawak in a Dialogue Session with the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Association which took place here today.

This dialogue session is the third series after in Miri and Kuching which was held on 25 and 26 November. Sibu city was chosen as the next location to represent the Central Zone of Sarawak.

The dialogue session program was held to obtain views and feedback from representatives of associations related to commercial vehicle licensing; as a platform to share problems and issues faced by commercial vehicle licensing; as well as fostering cooperation and understanding between CVLB Sarawak and the licensee.

During the dialogue session, he also announced that in line with the new post-COVID-19 normal, CVLB Sarawak will implement an online license application system which will begin in mid-February 2022. This web-based system that can be accessed anywhere, will hopefully be able to provide convenience to licensees and improve the efficiency of license application.

Through the implementation of this online license application, licensees no longer have to fill in forms manually and appear repeatedly at the CVLB office. Instead, the application and payment will be made online, and the applicant only needs to be present at the CVLB office to take the license.

In this regard, to familiarize users with this system, CVLB Sarawak will hold several engagement sessions with licensing associations to provide information and training on the use of the system later.

A total of 15 representatives from commercial vehicle associations in the Central Zone attended the dialogue session which took place at the Gunasama Meeting Room, Wisma Persekutuan Block 2, Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, Sibu.

ONE OFF GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DRIVERS

Throughout 2021, apart from the main function of issuing commercial vehicle licenses, CVLB Sarawak has also been entrusted to help the government distribute one off government assistance under the Malaysian Economic and People’s Protection Program (PERMAI) and People’s Economic Empowerment Strategic Program (PEMERKASA). This program is implemented to help reduce the burden of the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country. Under this program, eligible recipients consisting of taxi drivers, rental cars, school buses, sightseeing buses and e-hailing will receive assistance of RM500.00 from the government on a one off basis.

In 2021, a total of 4140 people have benefited under the PERMAI initiative. Meanwhile, under the PEMERKASA initiative, a total of 4094 recipients have been eligible for assistance.

Meanwhile, under the Sarawak State Government, through the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0, taxi drivers, rental cars and school bus operators registered in Sarawak also received assistance of RM600, while e-hailing operators of RM500 were given. on a one-off basis paid through Sarawak Pay.

Also present during the program this time were Sarawak CVLB Director, Puan Masitah Annuar Sarawak CVLB Deputy Director, Tuan Razami Mohamad Jamali; Sarawak Deputy Chief of Traffic Investigation & Enforcement Department, DSP Mathew Manggie; representative from the Sarawak Ministry of Transport (MOTS), Dr. Lawrence Tseu Sed Kong; Head of JPJ Sibu Branch, Encik Mohd. Faizal Abdullah; PUSPAKOM Sibu Manager, Tuan Ashamadi Madeni and senior officers of LPKP Sarawak.
