List of CVLB Annual Reports from 2014 – 2020
The year 2014 saw the country face various challenges. These include the phenomenon of major floods that hit several major states in Peninsular Malaysia as well as in several areas in Sabah and Sarawak, the decline in global oil prices and the depreciation of the ringgit. This scenario to some extent also affects the vibrancy of the commercial vehicle industry in Sarawak.
Despite the challenging environment, CVLB Sarawak has managed to maintain a positive momentum, especially in ensuring that the Sarawak commercial vehicle industry continues to grow rapidly and supports the rapid economic development of Sarawak. This success clearly translates to the total number of license applications for 2015 which continued to show an increase over the previous year.
As a commercial vehicle licensing agency, CVLB Sarawak always places emphasis on the implementation of licensing policies and conditions to be in line with current competitive needs. In this regard in 2016 a total of four (4) new policies were introduced by the board across various modes of commercial vehicles. Further details on the policy improvements are also detailed in this report. Policy improvements have helped in further strengthening licensing arrangements with customers from both the private and government sectors.
CVLB Sarawak is always committed in contributing to the success of diplomatic relations and cooperation in the spirit of BIMP EAGA and SOSEK MALINDO. The involvement of CVLB Sarawak in forums, meetings, regional dialogues, especially between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia, has provided an opportunity for local industry players in enhancing the competitiveness of commercial vehicle services in Sarawak and assisting in generating socio-economic growth.
The year 2018 is a historic year in which we have witnessed a change in the top leadership of the country and at the same time changed the governance scenario of the Federal Government. However, this does not change the role of CVLB Sarawak in ensuring that the commercial vehicle licensing industry in Sarawak is always competitive and moving forward.
CVLB Sarawak always plays a role by collaborating with stakeholders and players in the commercial vehicle industry for the benefit of the people, especially in the state of Sarawak. This is because the commercial vehicle sector is one of the main pillars in generating the national economy. Along with the development of the e-commerce market, greater market share for online purchases will reduce consumer travel for shopping purposes, but at the same time will increase commercial vehicle traffic. Future planning needs to take these changes into account, especially in the delivery of the last stone to congested urban areas as well as the adoption of various new technologies and business models.
